First Week Down!

So, one week down!

I'm beginning to think more about this course and you guys are inspiring me to think outside the box of normal English classes. I've really enjoyed having you in class!

We covered the historical portion and setting of The Pigman today in class, lectured on Paul Zindel and got the first dose of vocabulary for the book. Anyone absent just needs to get the words from me any time after school.

Next week, we are going to dive into reading The Pigman. Please come ready to discuss the book, it's going to take all of us to get the discussions going!

For those checking in on this blog, please remember to bring your I.D. card tomorrow so that we can check out The Pigman from the library. We are going to start thinking about the book and do a few activities with it before the weekend is upon us!

After reading your "Who Am I" papers, I am really excited to start to hear from you in class. You are articulate and far better writers than you are giving yourselves credit!

So,

You've found yourself smack dab in the middle of a class with a crazy student teacher! Lucky for you! After class today, I hope you have a better idea of who I am as a teacher. We are going to be on the semester journey together, I hope that we can learn from each other on a daily basis. This blog is set up for this class to help facilitate that learning in this new technological age!

Well, I'll let you know a little about the use of this blog. As a class, we will be discussing various books this semester and we will have a variety of in class assignments. This blog will be a great resource for you to use to keep up on things that you may have forgotten about from class. Check in for:

• Resources from class (websites used, online links to documents / useful websites)
• Recaps of the lesson from the day
• Forecasts of the next day's lesson
• Linked documents from class

Your parents can also use the blog as a resource from home to check on what we are doing in class!

Please feel free to check this blog and post questions that you might have as comments. This is a great way to get in contact with Mr. Myers as well!
